So I figured I would wait a week to put out my top 10 for 2010 as I did not want it to get lost with the rest of the top 10 lists. So from the home office in Chandler, AZ here is the Top 10 for 2010:
1. Make sure that you have a good back-up and diaster recovery plan in place. This does not mean, just backing up your data. You need to know how you are going to recover in the event of a diaster. If you need help with your plan take a look at JEBwatch Safety Care.
2. Get an iPhone App for your company. At CES this week a panel declared: Companies must have an iPhone App or the “don’t exist”
3. Get in the “Cloud” Companies and applications are already moving to the cloud. This trend will continue to pick up the pace this year.
4. Will AT&T loose the exclusive deal it has with Apple and the iPhone? Since the iPhone was released two and a half years ago, Apple has been the exclusive carrier in the US. But there have been many rumors that say Verizion could get the iPhone Q3 of 2010. I hope that this is true.
5. Move to company IT to a Managed Services Provide like JEB & Company. When you make the switch to Managed Services, you lower your overall IT costs, while improving your IT productivity. Learn more about Managed Services, and what it can do for you.
6. The Kindle will continue to grow. Amazon once again has change the way we read and buy books. I hope that more Universities make the switch to Kindle’s for text books.
7. Move to Google Apps This is the easiest way to begin your move to the cloud. If currently are using a hosted service for email and communication, or do not want to have to deal with administering your company email, Google Apps are for you. Google has made Google Apps affordable and available to any size company. Read all about Google Apps.
8. If you use Windows, move to Windows 7. Everyone knows that Vista was a flop. Several people have hung on to XP in fear of moving to Vista. Well Windows 7 is here and it is nothing like Vista. So if you use Windows and are still running XP, time to get a new PC with Windows 7.
9. Will Apple release a Tablet PC? The last half of 2009 was filled with rumors about a possible Apple tablet. The rumor mill has not stopped but it has pick up already in 2010. If Apple does release a Tablet PC will it be the next iPod or will it die a slow death like the Newton?
10. Anything Google. I am a huge fan of Google and there products and services. This year what will be there next big thing? 2009 Google gave us the Android OS for phones, Google Voice and a sneak peak of Google Wave. Android and Google Voice so far have been a success. I am still not sure about Google Wave yet. Google made a big splash this week with the announcement of its new mobile phone, Nexus One.
So as you can see 2010 is going to be a great year for tech. Here is to a great New Year for everyone!
